Geekvape L200 (Legend 2) Classic Review
Posted by Mused vapor on Jun 13th 2024
The Geekvape L200 Classic is here and it’s what many vapers have been waiting for since the release of the original Aegis Legend. The L200 Classic is a lot like the original Aegis Legend, only it’s been fitted with multiple upgrades to modernize and improve the experience.
Unlike the L200, which brought a whole new design, the L200 Classic stays true to the design of the original Legend. It’s quite a bit larger though, as it’s a vape mod that can take dual 21700 batteries for even longer-lasting battery life.
It also features an updated screen, a physical locking switch, and of course, an IP68 dust and water resistance rating. The L200 Classic is also still shock resistant so it can withstand drops and falls and live to see another day.
If you opt for the kit, you’ll get the Geekvape Z Max Tank which is a top airflow tank that uses Geekvape’s P series coils. Geekvape’s subohm tanks are always quite good, but we’ll see how the Z Max tank performs with the L200 Classic.

Design & Build Quality
Unlike the L200, the L200 Classic is very similar in design to the original Aegis Legend. The main differences are that the L200 Classic is bigger, features a new screen and buttons, and takes 21700 batteries instead of 18650s (although you can use 18650 batteries by using the included adapters).
Since 21700 batteries are larger than 18650 batteries, the result is that the L200 Classic is quite a bit bigger than the Aegis Legend, which itself is bigger than the L200. The size difference between the Aegis Legend and L200 is minimal, but the difference between the Aegis Legend and L200 Classic is much more noticeable. The L200 Classic is taller, deeper, and just a beefier device. The dimensions are 96mm tall, 64.46mm wide, and 33mm deep, and it weighs a hefty 310g with batteries installed (no tank).
But although it’s larger, and it does feel like an absolute unit of a device, the shape is ergonomic and the rubber body makes it comfortable to hold. It really feels like I’m holding an enlarged version of the Aegis Legend, and I think that was Geekvape’s goal.
The majority of the body of the L200 Classic is encased in rubber, which adds shock resistance and durability to withstand drops. It’s also rated as IP68 water and dust resistant, so the rubber body helps accomplish this as well.
At the top of the device there is a large, brushed metal plate and a centered 510 connection. This device can take atomizers with up to a 32mm diameter without overhang, so it’s a good mod for large tanks. The 510 connector is gold plated and spring loaded.
The top of the device is also where you’ll find the Type-C charging/firmware update port, hidden under a thick rubber door.
The L200 Classic features Geekvape’s signature “skeleton frame” bezel, which on my “Volcanic Grey” device is finished in chrome. Framed by this thick bezel is a leather grip with two lines of double stitching. It’s a nice grip that is just as good quality as other Geekvape devices that I’ve used, so no complaints here.
The L200 Classic, like a lot of new devices, features a physical locking switch on the side. This switch can be switched down to lock the entire device, or switched up to unlock it. It’s more convenient (I think) than using button combinations or a menu to accomplish locking the device, so I like that it’s here. The switch is sturdy and not floppy at all. It stays where it’s set, with no chance of it moving by accident.
The screen has been upgraded from the Legend (thank god) and you get a 1.08” full color display with a UI that is just like the L200. It’s sharp, bright, and crisp; really as good as screens get on vapes.
The rocker style buttons are all very nice, although they are slightly lower profile and a little differently shaped from the L200. All of the buttons feel nice and responsive, and make a nice ‘click’ sound when pressed.
The battery door is hinged and features gold plated contacts to make a good connection with your batteries. As I mentioned earlier, the L200 Classic can take 21700 batteries for power and that’s a good thing if you’re using low resistance, power-hungry builds. You can also use 18650 batteries by using the included adapters, but you’ll get the most out of the L200 Classic with a good pair of 21700 batteries.
Features & Functions
The L200 Classic can fire at up to 200W and comes with many of the same modes as the L200: Power, Temperature Control (Stainless Steel, Nickel, Titanium), TCR, and Variable Power Curves. But instead of Bypass, the L200 Classic has a sort of “smart” Bypass mode called Boosting mode.
Boosting mode automatically selects the maximum power output for the coil for maximum flavor and performance. For example, with the 0.14Ω coil in Boosting mode the L200 Classic outputted 3.31V which is around 78W; near the maximum recommended wattage of 80W for this coil.
The UI is the same as the L200 and features your mode at the top, followed by individual battery level indicators, your wattage, coil resistance, amps, voltage, and a puff counter.
To change modes you can press the first button 3 times and then use the adjustment buttons to change the mode. Once you’ve selected your desired mode you can press the fire button to cycle through the other options in that mode such as locking the resistance, changing the wattage in TC mode, or clearing the puff counter. You can also change the TCR value if you’re in TCR mode.
Geekvape L200 Classic Button Combinations
- Power On/Off: Press the fire button 5 times.
- Change Modes: Press the fire button 3 times and then use the adjustment buttons to cycle through the modes.
- Change UI Color: Press fire button 3 times to enter mode selection, then hold both adjustment buttons.
- Stealth Mode: Press and hold all 3 buttons.
- Change Screen Brightness: Hold power button and up or down adjustment button.
- Lock Device: Slide physical locking switch.
Geekvape Z Max Tank
The Z Max Tank is another Zeus tank by Geekvape and this one is said to be leakproof due to the top airflow design. In my experience, I had a tiny bit of internal leaking where some ejuice pooled in the base of the tank, but no ejuice actually made its way out of the tank so it pretty much leakproof.
The Z Max has a 27mm base diameter which looks right at home on the L200 Classic. It also has a 6ml tank capacity with the bubble glass so it can hold plenty of ejuice, which is needed because the coils are quite thirsty. Don’t be surprised if you’re refilling at least once a day with this tank; it’s no joke!
There’s nothing too special about the looks of the Z Max tank, it’s actually a pretty plain tank. But the simplicity of the tank is nice in its own way and the design definitely doesn’t affect the performance.
This tank uses Geekvape’s M series coils, of which there are four coils available:
- 0.14Ω 60-80W
- 0.15Ω Quadra, 85-100W
- 0.2Ω Triple, 70-85W
- 0.3Ω Dual, 55-65W
Included with the L200 Classic kit is a 0.14Ω coil and a 0.2Ω coil. This tank is meant for high wattage vaping and DL action, and all of the available coils are going to be well-suited to this type of vaping.
The base of the Z Max tank unscrews to reveal a sort of basin where any ejuice that leaks will collect. This is also how you insert or remove coils by simply pushing them in or pulling them out of the tank.
The top of the tank features an 810 drip tip, which is removable. The top cap comes off with a quarter turn and reveals two deeply recessed kidney shaped fill ports, which is good for preventing any leaking from this area. Bottle tips have to be quite thin and long to get into these ports. You can also just pour your ejuice onto the lips around the fill ports and the ejuice will fall down into the tank but it’s not an ideal way to fill.
The airflow consists of two large slots at the top of the tank which can be fully adjusted. The airflow ring functions on a stopper and can be removed for more easy cleaning of the tank. The airflow control ring is a little too loose for my liking and I would have preferred it to be a bit more stiff.
Performance
The L200 classic is an excellent mod for high wattage vaping and a lot of this sentiment comes back to the fact that it uses dual 21700 batteries. This provides much longer battery life than when using 18650s and so it makes the experience just that much better. No one wants to be charging their batteries all the time, and the L200 Classic makes charging less frequent.
As for the performance of the mod itself, I found it to be very similar to using the L200. It can output up to 200W and 12V, so it’s going to be enough power for any type of build. Low resistance builds on RDAs work just as well as mid-resistance builds, and using the Z Max tank is a great out-of-the-box experience too.
Out of the two coils, I liked the 0.20Ω coil better purely for the flavor and heat from the draw. This is the triple mesh coil and it works at higher wattages than the 0.14Ω coil. Around 80W is where it performed the best and I got great flavor along with huge clouds and a very warm draw. You need to keep an eye on your ejuice though because before you know it, it’s vaporized into thin air!
TC mode performance is pretty much the same as the L200 and it’s pretty accurate. Definitely usable for all materials as it cuts power appropriately, but also stays consistent and steady as you would expect when the wick is wet. Around 420F was a nice vape for me with this mod and a SS dual coil build of 0.23Ω, but play around with the temperature yourself to see what you like best.
Verdict
The L200 Classic is yet another great vape mod from Geekvape. I thought that the L200 was good, but the L200 Classic with its support for 21700 batteries brings this device up to another level of good. Even if you don’t use 21700 batteries (which you should with this mod!) and only use 18650s, the L200 Classic feels like a heavy-duty mod that will withstand even the roughest handling, so that’s another reason to pick this mod up.
On the performance side of things, there’s no reason to be disappointed. The performance is consistent and you get all of the modes that you could need from a vape mod. Whether high wattage vaping or mid wattage vaping, the L200 Classic is a good mod for the job and it’s been reliable for me all around.
If you’re thinking of getting the kit which includes the Z Max tank, I think that it’s worth getting if you don’t already have a good subohm tank. There’s nothing quite special about the Z Max, but it’s a solid tank that uses good coils that deliver good flavor and clouds. But be warned, it’s a thirsty tank so make sure you’re stocked up on ejuice.
