REVIEW: XR STONE FRUIT SNUS

Posted by Mused vapor on Jun 3rd 2024

Have been reviewing a lot of nicotine pouches lately, but today we get to talk about my favorite subject: snus! This is a snus product from Swedish Match that launched just a few months ago: XRANGE Stone Fruit! If you’re not familiar with “stone fruit”, these are fruits that have a large seed inside. Or, as some call it, a “stone”. This can mean peaches, cherries, apricots, and the like. This one seems to be more inspired by the peach flavor profile, which is considered a “stone fruit”.

It’s exciting to talk about snus today. There’s been a lot of new nicotine pouches launching lately but not many snus products. So, when I get to sit down and review a snus product, I consider that a pretty exciting day. While we may not see as many new snus products launched nowadays, when a new one does come onto the market, it’s cause for celebration! So, a kudos to Swedish Match for still launching new snus products. We, the snus community, greatly appreciate it!

Now, if you’re as excited as I am to talk about this one, let’s get right into the review!

The product description for this one says, “XR Stone Fruit Strong Slim White – A discreet XR Snus from the manufacturer Swedish Match with a nuanced and fruity flavor profile! Its white slim-portions have light tobacco characters, and they deliver a flavor with clear hints of peach that is rounded off with subtle notes of freshly brewed tea and bergamot. A well-balanced flavor that is enhanced by a strong nicotine kick (11 mg/portion). Its comfortable portions have somewhat dry surfaces who reduce their drip, which ensures that they provide a satisfyingly long-lasting release of both flavor and nicotine”. Each can weighs in at 16 grams and has 20 pouches, for 0.8 grams each. Nicotine strength is going to be 13.75mg/g, and with the 0.8 gram portions that breaks down to 11mg per portion!

Opening up the can, the aroma that comes through is mild, but balanced. It’s not overly sweet, either, which is something nice to experience. I pick up a peach/apricot type of aroma, with a little pepper to it. There’s also a note of tea to it, and a little bergamot behind it. The portions come in the Star Formation, so I suggest rolling them around in your finger to loosen up the tobacco before putting one under the lip. They’re pretty soft to the touch, with a slightly dry portion. Under the lid they feel comfortable against the gum. The flavor profile is pretty enjoyable! It’s fruity, but not overly sweet. It’s slightly tart, and peppery. I notice a taste of peach, along with some hints of bergamot. The tobacco base is gentle, and earthy. It’s a pretty rounded flavor. The nicotine strength feels a little over the regular strength mark. Not too strong, not too weak. The flavor has some legs, and hangs out about an hour on average!

The Bottom Line

All in all, this one is a pretty solid snus. I mean, nowadays I consider any new snus a ‘good snus’ just because we don’t get them much anymore. But I like the way the fruit flavor comes across in this one. It’s more of a natural touch, and not super sweet, so it delivers a really nice balance between the fruit taste and the tobacco taste. If you’re looking for something to try out to mix up your snus rotation, this would be a good one to throw on your next order!
