VELO Review - A Detailed Look at VELO Nicotine Pouches
Posted by Mused vapor on May 27th 2024
VELO Nicotine pouches is a rather interesting one. Today, we’re checking out the Velo line sold in the US. I have to differentiate because Velo is a worldwide brand. Several years ago, a nicotine pouch brand known as Lyft launched in Sweden. Shortly after that, the line was rebranded to Velo, in line with another couple of nicotine pouches sold in the US. These products aren’t the same as those products. These products were rebranded as Velo when BAT purchased Dryft sciences, and turned Dryft into Velo. I know, clear as mud, right? It’s very confusing, and interesting! You can find Velo in the round cans with the mini dry pouches, but you can also find an oblong version of Velo in the US.
Velo Mint
The Velo series is a line of nicotine pouches by BAT/RJ Reynolds sold all over the world. In Europe, there is one version, then in the US there are two. You can find Velo in the round cans with the mini dry pouches, but you can also find this version of Velo in the US. This version comes in oblong metal tins, with the long/slim pouch format. This version has two flavors: citrus, and the one we’re talking about today, mint!
Opening the tin, the aroma reminds me a lot of Camel’s Frost Snus if you’ve ever had that one. It’s a pretty sweet aroma of spearmint. Taking a pouch, I notice them to be slim, long, and semi-dry to the touch. They fit nicely under the lip, and are pretty comfortable. Being a mint product, I encounter a cooling presence in the lip, as well. As far as the flavor goes, it is on the sweeter end of things. The spearmint flavor is fresh, and clear. I mention the sweetness because if you’ve had others, you will notice this to be more sweet than most. This one comes in two strengths, 2mg and 4mg. Both of these are quite light. The 2mg one is more for those who have extremely light nicotine cravings. The 4mg one is more moderate, but still on the lighter end of things. So it depends on what you’re looking for. The flavor lasts about 30-35 minutes, on average.
Product specifics:
Can Weight: 6.5g
Portion Format: Slim Dry Nicotine Pouches
Portion Count: 15 pouches
Portion Weight: 0.43 grams each
Available Nicotine Strengths: 2mg/pouch and 4mg/pouch
Wrap-Up & Recommendation:
If you are looking for a sweeter mint product in the tobacco-free segment, this one is something you might enjoy. The cans have a great feel in the pocket, which is in line with the slim pouch. Velo is an interesting line with more offerings than most on the market today, so check it out on your next order!
Snubie’s Opinion:
There are two types of VELO currently on the US market, oblong cans and round cans. I personally prefer these Oblong cans. The VELO Mint has soft, full and comfortable pouches that feel great together with a slightly lower nicotine strength. I personally use stronger pouches, but if you want something lighter that also has delicious, sweet notes of mint - you’ll enjoy this one!
Velo Citrus
The Velo brand is certainly a diverse one. You can find it all over the world, in different shapes, sizes, flavors, strengths and format. Even here, in the US, you can find a few different versions of it: round cans and metal oblong cans. Today, we’re checking out one of the metal oblong can variants. This is their citrus flavor, in the 4mg strength. They also have a citrus flavor in their round can version, but those are more mini/dry pouches. These are more of a long/slim pouch, and a little less dry than the round can version. I know, it’s confusing. But, let’s do a review and we’ll talk more about this one.
When you open the can, the aroma is a pretty present, tart, lightly sweet aroma of citrus. The pouches are long, slim, but light in weight. They feel pretty soft under the lip. In the flavor profile, the citrus is mild. It reminds me of a light mix of orange and lemon. It’s tart in nature, but with a little sweetness in the mix. There are two strengths for this one, 2mg and 4mg. Today I have the 4mg one with me, which does feel pretty light. I’d suggest this one for people with lighter nicotine cravings. The flavor, on average, hangs out a good 30-35 minutes.

Wrap-Up & Recommendation:
If you want a nicotine pouch that comes in a non-standard tin, you may be really happy with the form-factor of this one. The flavor is decent for those who love the flavor of citrus. It’s a milder one, but a pretty approachable flavor profile for those looking for a good all day product.
Snubie’s Opinion:
There is a lot to love about these oblong cans. They are extremely easy to fit inside your pocket, they just slip right in, and the metal just gives it a luxurious feel. So, what do I think about the flavor? Well, VELO Citrus is absolutely one of the nicest citrus flavored pouches out there. It’s perfectly sweet, fresh and tangy - just how you want a citrus pouch to be. Personally, I need my pouches to be stronger than these, so they are not part of my regulation rotation, unfortunately. Had they been stronger they would be! If you, on the other hand, enjoy low strength then you’ll love these.
Velo Wintergreen
The Velo series is a widely available series here in the US, with a large assortment of flavors, formats, and nicotine strengths. Today, we have one of their round can / mini-dry format. This is one that comes in the popular flavor of wintergreen. There are a few strengths available in this flavor: 2mg, 4mg, and 7mg (Max). I have the 4mg and the 7mg with me today to talk about. So, let’s check it out!
Opening the can, the wintergreen aroma is pretty mild, and comes with a light sweetness to it. The pouches are small, and on the dry side. When you put one in the lip it will soften up and get more moist. They feel better under the lip once they get more moist. The flavor on this one is light, and mild. The wintergreen is there, but it’s a very light taste. If you’ve had Zyn’s, for example, this one is about half as present as that one. It’s not super sweet but does have a little sweet nature to it. In the nicotine strength, I find the 7mg one to be more satisfying, and closer to the regular mark. The 4mg one is lighter, and for those who have a lighter nicotine craving. There is also a 2mg one that is very light, so that’s another option. The flavor doesn’t last a super long time, usually about 30 minutes on average.
Product Specifics:
Can Weight: 7.6 grams
Portion Format: Mini Dry Nicotine Pouches
Portion Count: 20 pouches
Portion Weight: 0.375 grams each
Strengths Available: 2mg/pouch, 4mg/pouch and 7mg/pouch
Wrap-Up & Recommendation:
If you like the mini pouch format, you may be a fan of these. There aren’t a lot of wintergreen flavors in the mini dry format, so if you liked the Zyn version, give this one a try, and you may enjoy it. The Velo line is certainly wide-reaching, and has a large assortment of formats and strengths, so there is something for everyone within this range.
Snubie’s Opinion:
Wintergreen is a popular flavor in the US, and this one has one of the lightest ones; you’ll notice sweetness but also that distinct creamy wintergreen character throughout. The dry bags prevent any risk of drip or overbearing flavor release. I personally prefer a much stronger taste of wintergreen, but if you are one of those who prefer a more gentle flavor experience then you’ll enjoy this one.
